TRAVEL CREDENTIALS
Attention CVBs, tour packagers, public relations professionals, and travel venues:
Here is the way I cover the stories that I research:
- A premier outlet of mine is my nationally syndicated radio shows heard on the Business Talk Network (BTR) every Sunday from 10 am EST until 12 noon on 31 stations and then from noon to 1:00 EST on 540 AM WLIE, a New York/NJ/Conn station. The show is talk, interview and call in. When I travel to cover tourism, economic development, etc., we schedule several interviews. If airline personnel, tour operators, or any other interviewee is in the US, we will do the interview live by telephone shortly after I get back. For those that will not be in the US, I will bring equipment for taping of the interviews. I seek to bring the latest information to the public and help them see a world about which they have only dreamed.
- I contemplate at least three interviews given the breadth of most of my press trips in both tourism and economic development.
- I am an author of numerous freelance books and articles. My latest is about a Museum in Kuching that reached 600,000 readers, and a section of my latest book that deals with the second home programs in Malaysia.
- www.wealth102.com can be linked to any site you choose and can contain articles and information on both the travel and economics.
- I am also the money columnist for "Balance Magazine" (see www.livinginbalancemagazine.com). And, although I do not write a travel column, I do write about travel budgeting, inner journey and how to research the trip of your dreams.
- I am also the money columnist for "InCard Magazine" which goes to thousands of graduate and undergraduate students.
- I am the travel columnist for "Spectrum Magazine" that reaches 90 thousand special needs families in Long Island, NY. It will soon be distributed nationally as "United Spectrum Magazine."
Cooperating airlines, hotels and tour operators receive the same exposure as the venue/county/country I am visiting. I often have hotel managers, chefs and entertainment directors as guests on my show, after a trip. The topics range from corporate team experiences to how to travel healthy to art and culture. All the cooperating airlines and tour operators, as well as any food service, etc. will be linked on my website. As I write articles about the adventure, I include the references in the "How To Go " box of the articles.
I also do a great deal of television and public speaking. I often report on unusual places to buy property or invest, and retirement life styles.
In all my arenas, the audience is affluent, sophisticated, enjoy soft adventure and ages range from 40-70, except for "In Card", which has a very young audience.
There is also an intangible. For example, after my trip to Panama, a law client of mine decided to buy property there for reforestation. This evolves from the seminars I do, as well. It's unpredictable, but can be a major home run, at times. In addition, the visit sets the stage for my bringing a group to your venue, especially if one of my hosts is a tour operator and can package something for us.
In addition, the publisher of "Spectrum Magazine" has asked me to author special edition magazines on travel. Although this will not be on the stands until 2005-6, I plan one entire issue on soft adventure for families. I will be happy to include an interview with any of the participating properties that can help parents understand how best to arrange their trips.
